A double dose of adventure in one attraction

3D maze Velké Karlovice

What’s better than just one 3D maze? For this project in Velké Karlovice, nestled in the Beskydy foothills, we combined a classic 3D maze with a net-based playground. The result? A richer experience and a bigger adventure. In addition to climbing and crawling, children can bounce, roll around, or simply relax—all high above the ground, yet still safely secured in nets.

Brief

The client runs a small aquapark and indoor playroom in a popular tourist destination in the Beskydy region. As both attractions are mostly indoors, the aim was to expand the offer with outdoor activities. A smaller, mostly wooded sloped area right next to the aquapark was designated for the new addition.

Idea

The wooded terrain naturally lent itself to a treetop installation. Movement above ground brings added excitement—and welcome shade on hot summer days. To make the most of the space, we designed a combination of a 3D maze and a net-based playground. We didn’t forget about the youngest or more cautious visitors either—low rope obstacles on the ground offer safe fun for them too.

Solution

This single-level maze features 11 transition huts and 9 connecting bridges, each with unique obstacles. Visitors can enter via a starting platform or climb up a rope ladder at another point. Those who take on the full route will encounter three suspended wire tunnels, a slide, a tube slide—and of course the central net playground. The attraction is entirely enclosed in safety netting, even at heights of up to five metres above ground. The net playground itself features a triple-layer floor for extra safety. So while children play above ground, parents can relax on a bench or enjoy a coffee on the terrace—completely worry-free.

Theme

We wanted to playfully remind visitors that they’re in a protected natural area, known for its rich flora and fauna. The elevated play inspired us to decorate the structure with hand-painted birds native to the region. Inside the maze, children can spin small info panels to learn fun facts about birdlife. That’s why this attraction earned its name—Bird Paradise.
